I am collaborating with choreographer David Grenke, providing a visual context of layered spaces for his dancers. Images of collages are projected on the walls or printed on vinyl and placed on the floor.
In public projects supported by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, I encourage aesthetic appreciation of the everyday environment by emphasizing the play of light within the visual field and changes from morning to night. Based on a park with native California vegetation and a running track, my McKinley Village project uses color keys from outdoor paintings to create a woven pattern of daily light on a picnic table (which also alludes to repeated laps completed on the running track). The gridded images allude to the four cardinal directions.
