I am collaborating with choreographer David Grenke to provide a layered visual context for his dancers by means of mages of collages are projected on the walls or printed on vinyl and placed on the floor.
In public projects supported by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, I encourage aesthetic appreciation of the everyday environment by creating a context for 3D engagement with landscape. Based on a park with native California vegetation and a running track, my McKinley Village project uses color keys from outdoor paintings to create a woven pattern of daily light on a picnic table (which also alludes to repeated laps completed on the running track). The gridded images allude to the four cardinal directions.

Travels to a village in New Caledonia where I taught art in a mission school and documented agricultural plants and sites of schols and churches. Conflated with Davis, a suburban town with aspirations to be a “village”, an effort to create a “place” in a newly constructed community.

I document suburban fantasies of pastoral seclusion, modernist purity or Asian spirituality, framed within concrete boundaries - the standardized grids of border plants and ground cover, the geometry of athletic fields and subdivisions. The readymade image of the iPhone offers a field for color improvisation.
